About the Event
Event Format: Â Pairs Greensomes with 100% Handicap allowance with slope rating applied. This year there is only one handicap category thus no restrictions on who you can partner with.
Eligibility: Players must be a full member of the SGA and be assigned to SHAPE until at least 1 Nov 22. If a player knows they will be leaving before this date, they should not enter this tournament. If a person receives short notice orders to leave SHAPE before this date, they will be removed from the competition. Final decision rests with the Tournament Director and the Captain.
Tees: An 18 hole matchplay competition played from the front tees on any 18 holes of RGCH. Where matches are tied after 18 holes, play shall continue on sudden death format with extra holes and strokes received as per the normal 18 hole initial format. The sudden death will start on the 1st hole and continue until a hole is won.
Schedule of play: Ties are to be played as per the draw. If ties are not completed by the deadline one or both parties may be disqualified. The first named player shall propose 3 reasonable dates before the match deadline; failure to play the match prior to the established deadline may result in disqualification. Final decision rests with the Tournament Director and the Captain.
Greensomes format: Player A and Player B are a Greensomes team. They both hit drives from the tee. They compare the result and decide that Player A's drive is best. So Player B picks up their ball, and plays the team's second shot using Player A's drive. Player A then plays the third shot, and so on with the players alternating strokes until the ball is in the hole. (e.g. The player whose drive is not used hits the second shot.)
Handicap allowance: ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE AN OFFICIAL HANDICAP. 100% handicap allowance with Slope Rating index (forward tees) to be applied depending on which course is played. Your playing handicap will be used and the strokes are to be taken as follows:
Lower handicap x .6 plus higher handicap x .4, then the full difference, (e.g. Team A are 4 x .6 = 2.4, 7 x .4= 2.8 for 5.2 total; Team B are 9 x .6 = 5.4, 18 x .4 = 7.2 for a 12.6 total. 12.6 - (subtracted by) 5.2 = 7.4, which is rounded to 7 strokes received. No other formula shall be used to determine handicaps.
Sponsorship & Prizes: At this point sponsorship is not yet confirmed. Winners & runners-up of both divisions will receive prizes.
Deadline: 10 April 23 – draw to follow shortly after.
